Titania and Oberon - Queen and King of the Fairies

Welcome to Fanciful Fairies where you'll find information on Fairies in the world of art.Fairies have been the subject of art for years and covers all kinds of media. There are artists who look at the darker sides of the World of Fae all the way to the adorable fairies most of us think of at first.

In the World of Art there are such creative artists as the one who painted the above painting - Study for The Quarrel of Oberon and Titania by Sir Joseph Noel Paton c. 1849 in a scene imortalized by Shakespeare in A Midsummers Night Dream. Then there are the current artists such as Brian Froud who has created a huge body of work drawing fairies and other such figures. And a very important artist in the world of fae was Ciceley Mary Barker who painted the much loved Flower Fairies among others.

In the world of movies there are many examples of fairies, such as those in the Disney movies from the dwarfs in Snow White to the very popular Tinkerbell from Peter Pan. Other movies include Shakespeare's A Midsummer's Night Dream in various versions, Hook, Fantasia, and many more.

One area that is particularly meaningful to me is the trend of original doll artists to create beautiful fairies. Some of the artists produce wonderful examples that capture their delicate theme. And for those that want to try their hand at drawing fairies there are reviews of books and tapes available for you. Most of these I have myself.

There are many other areas of the World of Fairy that find expression in the arts. There's something for everyone.
